Commander's Corner : John Sallee

Comrades,
Uncle John wants you. Yes, I need volunteers. We have a lot of great people working our meals, and they are doing a great job, but we need more help. If we can get enough people helping then nobody will be working all the time. This would be a great help. If you can give some of your time please let me know, and you might actually have some fun while your at it.

The management has the back room looking good. They have brought in some very good live music, and there will be more coming. Please watch for fliers, and come down and kick up you heels.

Thanks to you we had a great year. We were All State, and we just missed All American.

On a personal note I want to thank everyone for the support you have given me over the last year and a half. You folks have stepped up, and helped me more than you know. Ramps, rides, and pretty much anything I need, you have been there for me. I really like the fact that I'm treated just like everybody else. In other words, I don't get no respect.

The post picnic is coming up on Sept. 10. Please come down and join us for free food, and beer while it lasts. AMVETS are included. Nonmembers will pay $3. The fun starts at 11 a.m., and karaoke will start at 3 p.m. Hope to see you soon.

Auxiliary President : Marilyn Richardes

Sisters,
What a great year we had last year, and with the new year upon us I look forward to working with you. I would like to thank all auxiliary sisters who accepted a chairman position for the upcoming year.

Sunday, Aug. 7, is the next District Meeting held at the Lemon Grove Post beginning at 9 a.m.

There will be a District Fundraiser at our post on Saturday, Oct. 1. More information on this will be announced at a later date. Watch the bulletin board for fliers.

On Saturday, Oct. 8, there will be a District Auxiliary Reports Workshop beginning at 10 a.m. Any auxiliary sister who took a chairman position is encouraged to attend and learn more about your chair and how to do reports.

Friday, Sept. 9, we will be having a POW-MIA ceremony in the hall at 7 p.m. Please plan on attending to honor them. This is a very moving ceremony and you will be glad that you attended.

Saturday, Sept. 10, is our annual VFW Post Picnic. There will be free hamburgers and hot dogs with all the side dishes for all post members who show their card. A $3 donation is asked for family and friends not members of the post. There will be many raffles, a booze barrel and of course karaoke.

If you have not sent in your membership renewals, please do so. You will be eligible for the early bird drawings at our August, and September meeting.

I received a phone call from Sister Thelma Gunderson and she wanted me to pass on some information. There is a Memorial Service held every fourth Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the old chapel at Naval Hospital San Diego. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Thank you for supporting our meals and fundraisers. See you at the post.

Win a Life Membership : John Salley

Dear Comrades,

Our 2004/2005 year has ended. Starting July 1, our new year 2005/2006 began and once again the membership drive is on. Starting now, Early Bird dues will be accepted.

The Post will once again have an incentive program for you to pay your dues early. We will be holding a drawing for a Life Membership in December. We will draw the name of one comrade who has paid his/her dues early. The comrade's whose name is pulled will receive a Life Membership..

In addition, the District will be giving away a three Life Memberships. A drawing will be held in October, November and December for a Life Membership. The only thing you have to do to be eligible for the drawing is pay your dues. The earlier you pay your dues, the more chances you have to win!

Dues are $27 and checks should be made payable to VFW Post 2275 and returned to the Quartermaster, Keith MacDonald, 1642 Villa Crest Drive, El Cajon, CA 92021. You can also mail your dues directly to the National Organization.

Comrades, with your help, last year the Post attained All-State status. Please pay your dues early so we can earn this prestigious title once again.

Hospital Chairperson : Lee Crafford

I would like to thank those of you who have donated items over the last month. Items donated include wheel chair bags, clothing, bathrobes, personal care items and puzzles. These items are sincerely appreciated by all those involved, but especially by the veterans who are the recipients of these donations.
